What “Carriacou Lullaby” Means

The Grenadian sister island of Carriacou keeps alive the Big Drum, or Nation Dance, a ceremony of African ancestral songs and rhythms passed down since the days of enslavement. This original lullaby draws on those drum-ceremony and schooner-boat images of Carriacou island life.
