What “Sinzira, Sinzira, Mwana” Means
Rwanda’s ‘land of a thousand hills’ gives its cradle songs, known as ‘ibihozo’, a natural backdrop — the hills themselves are often described as resting alongside the child. This original lullaby uses ‘gusinzira’ (to sleep) and that same rolling-hills imagery, a comforting picture familiar to Rwandan families.
