Khmu Lullaby Lyrics. An original lullaby inspired by the Khmu people, one of the largest Indigenous highland groups in Laos, known for a deep knowledge of the forest. The Khmu are considered by many scholars to be among the earliest inhabitants of what is now Laos, predating the later migrations of Lao and other Tai-speaking peoples into the region, and their language belongs to the Austroasiatic family, a distant relative of Vietnamese and Khmer, reflecting a very old presence in this part of Southeast Asia.
