Catalan Lullaby Lyrics. An original lullaby inspired by Cataluna, Spain’s northeastern region with its own Catalan language and Mediterranean coastline. Catalonia is famous for castells, human towers built by teams standing on each other’s shoulders and recognized by UNESCO, and every April 23rd the region celebrates Sant Jordi, a day when it’s tradition to exchange a book and a rose with someone you love. Here you will find the lyrics, meaning, and chords.

Sleep now, mare’s little one, the vineyard rests tonight,
Dm Am E7
the Mediterranean’s calm and still, beneath the fading light.

Sleep now, little one, the coastal town is near,
Dm Am E7
tomorrow’s sun will rise for you, and chase away all fear.

What “Catalan Lullaby” Means

Mare is the Catalan word for mother, part of the Catalan language spoken across Cataluna, a Mediterranean region of vineyards and historic coastal towns. This original lullaby draws on those vineyard and coastal images of Catalan heritage.
