Welsh Lullaby Lyrics. An original lullaby inspired by the Welsh-speaking heartland of Gwynedd and Anglesey, known for its slate-quarrying valleys and choral singing tradition. Wales is often called “the land of song,” and in villages built around its old slate quarries, communities have long gathered to sing together in male voice choirs — a tradition that turned even the hardest working days into something worth harmonizing over. Here you will find the lyrics, meaning, and chords.

What “Welsh Lullaby” Means
“Mam” means mother in Welsh. The Welsh-speaking heartland of Gwynedd and Anglesey (Y Fro Gymraeg) is known for its slate-quarrying valleys and a strong tradition of male voice choir singing at the Eisteddfod festival. This original lullaby draws on those slate-valley and choir-song images of Welsh-speaking life, with “mam” used as a warm address rather than a literal translation.
