Sudan is actually home to more pyramids than Egypt, with roughly 200 built by the ancient Kingdom of Kush at sites like Meroe, and Nubian rulers once conquered and governed Egypt itself as the 25th dynasty, remembered today as the so-called Black Pharaohs, a civilization whose language and traditions Nubian communities still carry on today.
