Black Hills Lullaby Lyrics. An original lullaby inspired by the Black Hills, known in Lakota as Paha Sapa, a deeply honored homeland long connected to a rich tradition of horsemanship. The Black Hills remain sacred ground for the Lakota, at the center of a long-standing land dispute after an 1868 treaty guaranteeing the territory was broken, and the enormous Crazy Horse Memorial, still being carved into the mountainside today, was begun in response to honor that history.
