Iggawin Lullaby Lyrics. An original lullaby inspired by the iggawin, Mauritania’s Moorish griot musicians who carry history and praise-song through generations. The iggawin form a hereditary caste of musicians within Moorish society, and their music traditionally carried real social weight, capable of building a patron’s reputation through praise or damaging it through pointed satire. Their instruments include the tidinit, a plucked lute played by men, and the ardin, a harp traditionally played only by women griottes. Here you will find the lyrics, meaning, and chords.
