Gilaki Lullaby Lyrics. An original lullaby inspired by Gilan province on Iran’s Caspian Sea coast, a lush rainy region of rice paddies and forest, culturally distinct from the arid Persian plateau. Gilan is one of Iran’s rainiest and most fertile regions, unusually green and lush compared to the arid plateau that covers much of the rest of the country, supporting both rice paddies and tea plantations, and Gilaki itself is a distinct language from Persian, closely related to Mazandarani and part of a small Caspian language family found only along this stretch of coast.
