Russian-Kazakhstani Lullaby Lyrics. An original lullaby inspired by the Russian-speaking communities of northern Kazakhstan, a significant part of the country’s population since the 19th and 20th centuries. Much of the Russian-speaking population in northern Kazakhstan traces back to the Soviet Virgin Lands Campaign of the 1950s and 60s, when hundreds of thousands of settlers were brought in to convert the open steppe into farmland, and Russian remains an official language alongside Kazakh in Kazakhstan today, still widely spoken across the country’s northern regions. Here you will find the lyrics, meaning, and chords.

the northern snow is falling now, upon the quiet hill.
