What “Aztec Lullaby” Means

Central Mexico was once home to the Aztec (Mexica) civilization, whose founding legend tells of an eagle perched on a cactus, an image still found today at the heart of the Mexican flag. This original lullaby, written in English, draws on that legend and the volcanic valley the Aztecs called home — a respectful tribute to Nahuatl heritage rather than an attempt to reproduce the Nahuatl language.
