What “Nyal, Nyal, Nga'i Bu” Means

Bhutan, a Buddhist kingdom in the Himalayas, is famously the only country to measure ‘Gross National Happiness’ instead of GDP, and its name in Dzongkha, Druk Yul, means ‘Land of the Thunder Dragon.’ This original lullaby, in romanized Dzongkha, borrows both, the sacred snow peak of Jomolhari and the mythical thunder dragon.
