What “Aromanian Lullaby” Means
“Muma” means mother in Aromanian, a Romance language related to Romanian, spoken by the Vlach/Aromanian community historically centered in Krusevo and Bitola. Their traditional life followed the seasonal transhumance of sheep flocks between the Pelister mountains and lowland winter pastures. This original lullaby draws on those pastoral and mountain images of Aromanian life, with “muma” used as a warm address rather than a literal translation.
