Crimean Tatar Lullaby Lyrics. An original lullaby inspired by the Crimean Tatar people, whose orchards, vineyards, and courtyard fountains form a cultural heritage carried by families across Ukraine today. In 1944, Soviet authorities forcibly deported the entire Crimean Tatar population to Central Asia in a mass expulsion known as the Surgun, and most families were only able to begin returning home to Crimea after the Soviet Union’s collapse in 1991. The courtyard fountains that remain part of Crimean Tatar architectural heritage echo the elegant style of the Khan’s Palace in Bakhchysarai, home to the famous Fountain of Tears. Here you will find the lyrics, meaning, and chords.
