What “Yaghnobi Lullaby” Means

The Yaghnobi people of Tajikistan’s remote Yaghnob Valley are direct descendants of the ancient Sogdians, and their language is the last living descendant of Sogdian, once spoken along the Silk Road. Their small mountain community still farms barley and wheat much as it has for centuries. This original lullaby draws on those ancient and mountain-farming images of Yaghnobi life.
