Sao Tome and Principe, Africa’s second-smallest country, was once one of the world’s largest cocoa producers, and cocoa groves still shade much of the islands today. This original lullaby, in Portuguese (the official language), borrows that same island imagery, cocoa, shade and the surrounding sea.
