What “Vyssan Lull” Means
Vyssan Lull (also written Byssan Lull) is one of the oldest lullabies in the Swedish folk tradition. Its name imitates the soft “vyss, vyss” hushing sound a parent makes while rocking a baby to sleep. The words are gently practical — the promise of a warm kitchen, of butter and milk in the bowl — the small, everyday comforts that tell a child everything is taken care of and it is safe to close their eyes.
