Warao Lullaby Lyrics. An original lullaby inspired by the Warao people, one of Venezuela’s largest indigenous groups, who live in stilt houses along the Orinoco River Delta. Warao means roughly ‘the boat people,’ a fitting name for a culture built almost entirely around canoe travel through the delta’s maze of waterways, and the moriche palm serves as something like a tree of life for the Warao, providing food, fiber for weaving, and material for building the stilt houses that keep their villages above the water.
