Kazakh Lullaby (Mongolia) Lyrics. An original lullaby inspired by the Kazakh community of Mongolia’s Bayan-Olgii province, high in the Altai mountains and famous for eagle hunting. Bayan-Olgii is Mongolia’s only Kazakh-majority province, and each autumn it hosts the Golden Eagle Festival, where berkutchi, eagle hunters, compete on horseback for speed and accuracy. Training a golden eagle takes years of patient partnership, and traditionally, after about a decade of hunting together, the eagle is released back into the wild to live out its remaining years free. “Ana” means mother in Kazakh. The Kazakh community of Mongolia’s Bayan-Olgii province, high in the Altai mountains, is famous for eagle hunting (berkutchi) — training golden eagles passed down from father to child for generations, a tradition recognized by UNESCO.
