Karamojong Lullaby Lyrics. An original lullaby inspired by the Karamojong people of northeastern Uganda’s semi-arid plains, a pastoralist culture whose life is built around herding cattle. Karamojong elders traditionally gather in council beneath a designated sacred tree, called akiriket, to settle disputes and make major community decisions, and cattle remain so central to Karamojong identity and wealth that traditional songs and poetry are still composed in praise of individually named, favorite animals. What “Karamojong Lullaby” Means

The Karamojong people of northeastern Uganda’s semi-arid plains are a pastoralist culture whose life is built around herding cattle, distinct from the Bantu-speaking Baganda majority further south. This original lullaby draws on those plains and cattle-herding images of Karamojong life.
