What “Welsh Lullaby” Means
“Mam” means mother in Welsh. The Welsh-speaking heartland of Gwynedd and Anglesey (Y Fro Gymraeg) is known for its slate-quarrying valleys and a strong tradition of male voice choir singing at the Eisteddfod festival. This original lullaby draws on those slate-valley and choir-song images of Welsh-speaking life, with “mam” used as a warm address rather than a literal translation.
