Pasifika Lullaby Lyrics. An original lullaby inspired by Auckland’s Pasifika community, home to the largest Polynesian population of any city in the world. Auckland is sometimes called the Polynesian capital of the world because of the sheer size of its Pacific Islander population, and each year the city hosts the Pasifika Festival, one of the largest celebrations of Pacific culture anywhere on Earth. What “Pasifika Lullaby” Means
“Tina” means mother in Samoan. Auckland is home to the largest Polynesian population of any city in the world, where Samoan, Tongan, and other Pacific communities keep their music, dance, and language alive together. This original lullaby draws on those Pacific-community images of Pasifika life in New Zealand, with “tina” used as a warm address rather than a literal translation.
