Circassian Lullaby Lyrics. An original lullaby inspired by the Circassian community of Jordan, descended from Caucasus refugees who settled in Amman generations ago. Forced from their Caucasus homeland in the 1800s, the Circassians carried their language, dance, and hospitality customs into a new life in Jordan — and their traditional circle dances are still performed today at weddings across the city. Here you will find the lyrics, meaning, and chords.

What “Circassian Lullaby” Means

The Circassian community of Jordan descends from refugees who fled the Caucasus mountains in the 19th century and helped found modern Amman. This original lullaby draws on those mountain-heritage and homeland images of Circassian-Jordanian life.
