What “Al Murrah Bedouin Lullaby” Means

“Yumma” is a Gulf Arabic dialect word for mother. The Al Murrah tribe are camel-herding Bedouin of Qatar’s southern desert, long known as master desert trackers across the vast Empty Quarter. This original lullaby draws on those desert and camel-herding images of Al Murrah life, with “yumma” used as a warm address rather than a literal translation.
