Transylvania is home to the largest Hungarian minority population outside Hungary itself, numbering well over a million people, a community that found itself separated from Hungary by the same 1920 Treaty of Trianon that redrew much of Central Europe’s borders after the First World War, and cities like Cluj-Napoca remain important cultural centers for Transylvanian Hungarian life today.
